# What is an active engagement?

An active engagement is the one that is currently live and it:

1\. Takes over the phone number of your account and the votes are counted for that specific engagement when it is active

2\. The active engagement data is inserted into the online widget and the on-air graphics (if available for your account) which is accessible using the event code.

When you start a engagement by clicking the "Play" button or by launching an engagement from scratch, the previous active engagement is stopped automatically.
